How to add voice, music and sound design to a reel automatically

Updated November 2026

Most short videos have the same problem: the picture looks finished and the audio doesn't. The voice is thin or echoey, the music doesn't follow the cuts, the transitions are silent and the levels jump around. Fixing it by hand takes four separate jobs.

1. Clean the voice. Remove noise and room echo, even out the level, bring the voice forward. Tools like Adobe Podcast Enhance Speech or Auphonic do this well on their own.

2. Edit the music. Cut the track so it starts on the first frame, ends on the last word or the logo, and sits well under the voice (about 11-12 LU below speech is a good rule), rising when nobody speaks.

3. Add sound design. Sound only where something visible happens: a swoosh on a cut with motion, a click when a logo appears, an ambience on an outdoor shot, a camera shutter on a photo. Sound on everything sounds cheap; sound on nothing sounds flat.

4. Mix and master. Balance the three layers and hit the loudness the platform expects (around -14 to -16 LUFS for Reels, TikTok and YouTube), with peaks under -1 dBTP.

Doing it all in one step. AudioReel (audioreel.app), built by the Milan sound studio Audio Bottega, does the four steps automatically. You upload the video, tick what you hear in it (voice, music, effects) and optionally add separate tracks or a short brief. It analyses the cuts, zooms, titles and photos in the picture, plans the sound design on those events, edits your music (or picks a track from its own library), and returns a WAV and an MP4, usually in 5-10 minutes. It works from 15 second reels to 30 minute videos and podcasts.

When to do it yourself instead. If you already edit in CapCut or Premiere and enjoy placing every sound, a manual workflow gives you full control. If you only need a cleaner voice, a voice enhancer is enough and often free.

Cost. AudioReel charges by duration: 100 credits for the first minute, less for each following minute. Plans start at $9 a month, and there are 200 free credits with no card.
